We have tried numerous oil and gas-related cases, including cases involving oilfield accidents, premises liability, and surface damage.  Our lawyers conduct extensive discovery and vigorously argue questions of fault and damages at trial, obtaining favorable settlements or successful verdicts for our clients.  In addition to oilfield personal injury and surface damage cases, we assist in the multitude of litigation matters which arise in the oil and gas industry.

Representative Cases

• We represented an oilfield operator in a serious accident involving flow back hand.  The plaintiff’s initial demand at trial was for eight million dollars.  After a five-day trial in Federal Court, the jury returned verdict which required the defendant to pay $2,800,000.
• In another case, we defended an operator who was drilling a horizontal well when a blow out occurred, resulting in third degree burns over 90% of the plaintiff’s body.  We performed extensive pre-trial discovery trial and proceeded to trial through jury selection, opening statements, and cross-examination of plaintiff’s witnesses.  After our cross-examination, the case settled for less than the insurance policy limits.  In addition, we were able to maintain an action for indemnity against the other insurers resulting in a funding agreement for 50% of the settlement.
• We represented Justiss Oil Company in a premises liability/oilfield accident case filed by a service contractor employee.  The Plaintiff refused to settle the case at mediation and never negotiated below $800,000.  The case was tried to verdict in Federal Court in Marshall, TX, resulting in a final judgment of $282,515.17.
